The landing

The landing zone, chosen by the Allied troops, was the coast from Maiori to Agropoli. Most of the troops landed in the area of the Piana del Sele: the British landed north of the mouth of the river Sele, in the area of Magazzeno, and the Americans landed in the area of Paestum, south of the mouth of the Sele.
