The Emotional Room

The pride of the Museum of Operation Avalanche is the Emotional Room. In this room,through the use of modern technology, the viewer is transported to the battlefields of Operation Avalanche. There are two screens (vertical & horizontal) that simultaneously project images and film footage of the operation. The vertical screen shows historical footage accompanied by audio commentary by Robert Capa, John Steinbeck and Jack Belden. The horizontal sceen, projected over a 3D topographical map highlights a model of the landing area, shows map of war and the places important to Operation Avalnche, the landing and the battle. This experience is often a moving one for the visitor, the Emotional Room is aptly named offering a unique and moving experience.
