24 Jan WOMEN IV ED. “Gerda Taro – Art, War and Rebellion” – Clone
Women is an artistic happening. The event exploring the problems related to the female world, this year is dedicated to the figure of Gerda Pohorylle, better known as Gerda Taro, the German photographer, whose works are still unknown and underestimated.
Gerda Taro, unconventional woman, a free spirit and a pioneering photographer, documented the hot front of the Spanish Civil War with deep visual ability and a lot of courage. She, Robert Capa’s partner, pseudonym of Endre Ernő Friedmann, was the first female reporter dead in an action of war, overwhelmed by a tank, playing her job. This helped to mythologize her as a rebellious and courageous woman, fallen for her own ideas and her work.
42 artists from all over the world will participate in the Fifth Edition of Women.
On May 18th, at 8.30 pm, the opening of the exhibition will be held at MOA, which will remain until May 30, 2019.
